FUELING THE INNOVATION PIPELINE FOR RECYCLING: THREE WAYS YOU CAN ADD TO THE ENERGY!
CALLING ALL STUDENTS, SPONSORS, AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS
Throughout October, we took a nationwide vote to let lovers of innovation determine the next Innovate-A-thon topic—and New Approaches to Recycling brought the most votes.
The Innovate-A-thon will take place December 30 - January 17 and will bring together 15-20 students from US universities (students from nearly 800 universities are eligible to apply), industry, and subject matter experts in a rapid paced, two-week sprint to create technically and economically viable solutions for recycling (wide range of recycling segments). The other three vote topics, Pedestrian Safety, Closed Loop Agriculture, and Water Reclamation, will be the focus of future Innovate-A-thons. We will keep you posted.
AND YOU CAN BE A PART:
Students:
Interested students can apply to the Innovate-A-thon Innovation Internship through Handshake. The posting is currently active in 794 universities. If you are interested and the posting doesn’t appear at your university, just reach out to us! We are happy to consider your application. Please reach out to us at Steven@ed2s.org.
All participating students receive a modest scholarship, learn about how to engage in the innovation workforce, and build strong professional networks and job opportunities.
Sponsors:
Innovate-A-thon is entirely nonprofit. We work with industry, philanthropists, and donors with an interest in the innovation topic. The total cost of an innovate-A-thon is $15,000 (all of which directly funds student scholarships and project materials. Every Innovate-A-thon cohort generates 3-5 distinct solutions from participating teams.
If you are interested in supporting this exciting program, please reach out to us at sherry@Ed2s.org! Full or partial sponsorships are welcome, as are smaller individual donations.
INNOVATE-A-THONS ONLY HAPPEN WITH NONPROFIT SUPPORT.
Subject Matter Experts:
While students lead the innovation process, subject matter experts are essential to their success. If you are interested in learning more about being a SME, just let us know. We would love to hear from you. This may be based on the specific Innovate-A-thon topic, innovation in general, business modeling, or other scientific/technical expertise—we welcome your participation. One Innovate-A-thon sprint spans two weeks, and requires approximately 8 hours of time during that period.
We are eagerly building our SME network, so please accept our invitation and lets talk! There is great reward in helping prepare students for the innovation workforce and in creating actual solutions to problems of society, environment, and economy. Please reach out to us at sherry@Ed2S.org.
